Weekly Expedition Log: The Wednesday Pivot: When the Schedule Crumbles, the Protocol Holds

Wednesday morning, I was a wreck, a sleep score that looked like a heart rate monitor for a sloth, my 5 AM workout didn’t just feel hard—it felt impossible. My joints were echoing the "Rice Krispies" symphony, and for a minute, I considered letting the "Decline" win the day.

But here’s the thing about the Climber’s Code: we don't mistake movement for progress, but we also don't surrender the high ground without a fight.

I skipped the morning session. I didn't beat myself up; I just checked the compass. I ground through the workday, kept the focus tight, and instead of collapsing into a "Trash Jar" evening of mindless TV, I staged a comeback. I made dinner, hit the gym for a strength session, and topped it off with a run under the stars.

The Current Experiment: The Protein/Calorie Paradox I’m still wrestling with the scale. I’m finding that at 56, the math of "Eat Less, Move More" is a bit of a lie. I’ve been testing ways to spike my protein intake to hold onto muscle while keeping the total caloric ceiling from crashing down. My current protocol involves lean sources like salmon,  but I’m still fine-tuning the dial. I’m not there yet, but I’m documenting the micro-wins until the data gives me the signal.

This week, the count is official: 4 solid sessions. That’s another marble moved to the Investment Jar. We are now 7 for 10. The ascent continues.

Bank the Marble. Check the Rope.
